Inverarity Team |
|
Following the National Church review, our Inverarity Church building was earmarked for potential closure by December 2023. A concerted effort by East Old and Inverarity (EOI) together with our locum minister, Rev Malcolm Rooney, successfully overturned this assessment in August 2024. With our immediate future secured, the Inverarity Team, as one of the EOI Focussed Teams, now direct our energies on fulfilling the Church of Scotland’s 5 Marks of Mission by making a tangible difference, addressing the spiritual, social, and practical needs that are relevant to our rural community. Successful initiatives include monthly Souper Fridays (the clue is in the name!), a term-time Kids Club, music recitals and concerts, local heritage talks and the development of closer links with Inverarity Primary School. Our Sunday School holds periodic 'Pre-Loved is Re-Loved' events which support the local Angus Riding For the Disabled Association (RDA) located just up the road. As a Congregation we have representatives on many of the wider EOI group/team structure. Our local team seeks to ensure that the very different needs and priorities of the rural area of the parish are recognised and met. Always on the lookout for ways to cement our involvement both centrally in EOI and within the wider Inverarity community, the team led by Diane Acheson, are ready and willing to look at any opportunities and suggestions that come our way. The team can be contacted by email at eoiinverarity@yahoo.com or through the EOI church office. |
